Public Hearing on Anti-Bullying Bill Wednesday – Senator Nicole LeFavour

Sadly Idaho now has the 4th highest suicide rate in the nation. Our state does not do all it can to prevent bullying which can create an environment of unwelcome and contribute to suicide in young people in Idaho schools. After months of negotiations and work, Idaho’s new anti-bullying bill will have a public hearing. It would help the bill to have concerned parents, students, counselors and teachers come to the statehouse at 1:30-3:00 PM on Wednesday to testify.

Please reply and let me know if you plan attend.

EVERY PARENT HAS A RIGHT TO EXPECT THEIR CHILD WILL BE SAFE AT SCHOOL

If you live outside the Boise area PLEASE contact your 3 Idaho law makers to ask them to support legislation to strengthen Idaho’s anti-bullying laws by

1) making sure every district has its own anti-bullying policy

2) by providing teacher training

3) by making sure teachers and school staff know they are expected to intervene and keep kids safe when they see bullying occur

It is already against Idaho law to bully another student in Idaho schools.

Still every week the State Department of education gets more than one complaint from parents at a loss because their school will not take action to prevent their child from being bullied.

It is time to make Idaho’s law more effective.

Let’s pass S1358
